
Henry Sampson
Henry Sampson was born in 1934. He grew up to be a pioneer in the fields of technology and nuclear engineering. Sampson was the first African American to earn a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering in the United States. We are able to enjoy cell phones today because of Sampson’s invention of the gamma-electrical cell. His gamma -electrical cell use radio waves to transmit and receive audio signals. Henry Sampson was awarded a patent for his invention in 1971.
