Sarah Goode

Sarah Goode was born in 1855. Her father was a furniture maker and she would help him in the shop. Sarah grew up to be an entrepreneur and inventor. Her invention that she is best known for is the folding cabinet bed. This invention gave people more space in their homes. At the age of 30, Sarah was the first African American woman to receive a US patent in 1885.
